Quick Tip: Taking Your Multivitamin

Though there is a constant back and forth in the medical community over whether or not it’s worth taking a multivitamin, I take a multi since I don’t eat gluten due to my gluten intolerance. Even though I feel that I eat a healthy diet, I just want to be sure I cover my bases.

I didn’t always take my multi so faithfully, though. I stopped taking it for about a year because every time I took one, even when I took it with food, it would make me feel nauseous. I have no idea how this problem came up in conversation, but I happened to mention this to the lovely owner of a bed and breakfast in Kennebunk, Maine when we were staying there over a year ago. She said that she just breaks hers in half and takes one with breakfast and one with lunch. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of such a simple solution!

Vitamin split

I take a women’s multivitamin from Rainbow Light.

Rainbow Light

I can easily split it in half using my fingers, but you could also use a pill splitter. I’ve gravitated to this brand their products are food-based, 100% natural, vegetarian and vegan, and guaranteed to be free of animal ingredients throughout every stage of the production process. Most, if not all of their products, also do not contain any gluten, lactose, soy, yeast, milk, eggs, nuts, fish, shellfish, artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, preservatives or additives. I buy mine on Amazon, but I have also seen them at Whole Foods.

Maybe I also like the brand becase I think of Rainbow Bright whenever I look at my vitamin bottle.

Do you take a multivitamin? Why or why not? Are you loyal to a particular brand?
